To the east of
downtown San Diego is Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo and the charming neighborhoods
of Golden Hill and North Park. Spanish
Haciendas dot the area. In the neighborhood of Hillcrest, with it vast array of restaurants, nightclubs and shops, the streets stay packed with pedestrians until the early hours of morning. Just south of Hillcrest are
the historic Victorian residences of Bankers Hill and
Mission Hills. Hillcrest is the Gay and Lesbian center of the city.
